A mind is a powerful tool that every creature has. Although it holds all the information we have accumulated, the mind is able to filter out certain information when we need it. To lose our memory would mean to lose all the information we have stored. In this case, the creature would no longer be able to function as it used to. Memory loss happens from time to time in this world too. Although it is most often caused by old age or head injuries, there are ways to cause it in other creatures. This can be done using the Blackout spell. While it may seem heartless to cause memory loss in another being, this spell was actually designed to punish evil-doers. If your opponent tries to steal or copy your powers, this spell will be particularly useful. When this spell is cast, the opponent forgets not only the powers he was trying to steal but also any other powers he had. This is a lesson to him for bad intentions. Although the effect of this spell is not permanent and the opponent eventually restores his memory, he will still not be able to remember what he tried to steal from you. That's why this spell is perfect for disrupting your opponent's plans.
