Welcome to the Dojo - get rid of your events & wish spells

arrow

This is an interesting card that is both a boon and a bane to any deck using unarmed combat cards. First off, being immune to events and the spell Wish (46/FR), there are very few easy ways to get rid of this rule card. For the most part, you either must play another rule card or Ellorelloran (93/UD) to remove Welcome to the Dojo.

While in play, all unarmed combat cards played are immediately shuffled back into their owner's deck after play. This is very good for often used unarmed combat cards, like Slap! (78/IQ), Breath Weapon III (96/DR), or Level Drain (97/NS), as they get immediately recycled for use again.

This is great for a deck that doesn't use many. This is not nearly so good for a deck that uses lots of UCCs. Why? Because if you shuffle back too many cards, it is hard to get the cards you need, like realms and champions. Think of adding too much water to lemonade; the mix is not nearly so good anymore.

However, the card most hurt by this rule card is Gib Nedyah (75/MI). While cards in the discard pile when Welcome to the Dojo is played stay there, after Gib Nedyah plays them from the discard pile, it gets shuffled back into the deck.

Therefore, Welcome to the Dojo is a great card using just a few unarmed combat cards (like many mongrel, dragon, or undead themes), those with too many UCCs or Gib Nedyah should back away from this card. Heck, this card would also be of use by any player who is sick of seeing Nedyah pull back Fighting Dirty! (3/DU-chase) every time.

Expect to see Welcome to the Dojo show up in many different decks many different times.
