Spanish Inquisition - the horror of spellcasters

arrow

The Spanish Inquisition was originally an event in Earth History, but now is an event that completely nails all spellcasters of clerical spells.

As opposed to past events like The Day That Will Live in Infamy (10/FR-chase) or Underground River (9/UD-chase), this card hits more than just clerics.

Any champions able to cast cleric spells are sent to limbo until their owner’s next turn. While this isn’t as powerful as Treasure (130/4th), and closer to Foreign Wars (160/4th), this can be comboed for some nasty plays.

If The Monty Haul Campaign (100/RR) is in play, this sends all champions not immune to events or rule cards to Limbo. This can be especially vicious if the Throne of Throne of the Mountain God (510/4th) is in play, sending all those card to the Abyss. Additionally, this can be used with MHC to send everyone to Limbo if played just before your turn, then on your turn play a champion from the hand for easy spoils of victory. This can also be done by using The Caravan (131/CL) immediately after the turn you get your champions back to get a turn at the “candy store” (a realm with no defender).

The best way to defend against this is to use champions immune to events or kills MHC as soon as it comes out. Since clerics are not the most powerful champion type, this card will probably only see play in events using theme champions or fun games.

Also, 'Calm (400/1st)-ing' this card while it hurts others is not a bad choice either. Enjoy!
